REHABILITATION

Rehabilitation is the process of helping you achieve the highest level of function, independence, and quality of life possible after physical injury. Rehabilitation does not reverse the damage caused by trauma, but it does help to restore you to optimal health, functioning, and well-being.

There are various types of rehabilitation but the two most common are physical and occupational rehab:

  • Physical rehabilitation therapy – Often necessary after a serious injury or surgery impacting joints or muscles that cause mobility issues.

  • Occupational therapy – When a person requires adaptive devices to perform daily work and home activities. These include aids like wheelchairs, walkers, and other devices.

In conventional medicine, your time in rehabilitation is based on insurance plans limits. This “one size fits all” approach hinders progress because your treatment plan is often predetermined.

At Optimum Human Dynamics we offer physical rehabilitation therapy to help restore maximum movement and strength through range-of-motion exercises. Our extensive knowledge of the body and its movement, needs and potential is central to determining strategies for diagnosis and intervention.

Functional movement is central to what it means to be healthy.

Some of the most common issues we treat are: â€‹

  • Sports Injuries: We treat a wide array of injuries, including torn muscles, strained tendons, and/or sprained ligaments, and ACL/Meniscus injuries.

  • Cervical/Lumbar injuries: When this happens, nerve structures and/or the spinal cord can become compressed (eg, pinched nerve), which causes inflammation, irritation and pain. When the low back is affected the condition is called lumbar spinal stenosis, and if the neck is involved, cervical spinal stenosis.

  • Osteoarthritis: (knee, shoulder, hips, etc.)

I was first introduced to Dr. McGilberry as a car accident patient. Being new to chiropractic I didn't know what to expect. I've grown to see the value of his expertise and have signed up for additional services. He's been able to help me on my quest for better health. I'm a patient for life and have followed him to his new location in Wild Horse Fitness!
